The residents and visitors of Pylos, Kalamata, and the surrounding areas responded with great enthusiasm to the call for the clean-up that took place as part of the Eurobirdwatch on Sunday, October 2.
The clean-up of the Divari beach was organized, just like every year, by volunteers and supporters of the Gialova lagoon. More than 20 large bin bags were collected. At the end of the clean-up, all participants, as well as the people who had visited the beach, expressed their contentment and the hope that there will be an even bigger turnout in the future for similar actions.
The participants also had the opportunity to walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery offered by the Gialova lagoon, and to observe the bird species that were currently in the area.
After the clean-up, the participants expressed their intent to get together again for similar actions, with the feeling that together we can bring out the environmental value of our area.
The Gialova lagoon clean-up took place with the support of the “Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos” Foundation, and the Κ.Α.ΝΕ. Social Youth Development.
