Agrotourism in a Context of Pluriactivity in Rural Areas

2012

Research Summary

Messinia is located in the southwest Peloponnese. It is an agricultural and tourist area, favorable to agrotourism development. In the context of pluriactivity of the rural households, agrotourism appears as an alternative to the recent rural exodus in order to make this population remain in the rural space. In a time of financial crisis, agrotourism is also set up by the urban population looking for a better and a new quality of life. Between these two kinds of population, agrotourism is used and practiced in a different way.
